Yet, AI—designed within the very paradigms that created these crises—threatens to accelerate our trajectory toward social, economic, geopolitical, and ecological collapse.

• • Current Ethical AI frameworks, while valuable, remain rooted in human-centric and harm-reduction paradigms, unwittingly perpetuating problematic worldviews that are structurally incompatible with Life. We must valorize a more foundational and paradigm-shifting ethical foundation rooted in objective, Life-supporting science.
• • We are overlooking the most vital design principle for AI: Life itself. Directing the development of AI towards human and planetary flourishing is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Inadvertently, we have overlooked the most critical design principles—Life’s scientifically-validated 3.8 billion year playbook for shaping thriving Living Systems.
• • Enter Regenerative AI Ethics (RAIE). A revolutionary framework to ensure our Life-altering technologies are unequivocally Life-affirming. Rooted in Life’s time-tested principles for systemic health and regenerative vitality, RAIE reimagines AI not as a tool, but as a participant in the Living Systems that sustain us. It calls for a civilizational shift towards a future where technology becomes a force for flourishing across ecosystems, societies, and economies—actively restoring and enhancing the vitality of all Life—including our own. A future where AI is in service of Life.
• • We advocate for RAIE as the preeminent design principle and standard for all AI design, development, investment, deployment, use, and governance. This paradigm-shifting approach promises to create antifragile social, economic, and ecological systems, fostering resilience and a vital recoupling with Life in the face of unprecedented change.

    • AI’s contributions to thriving ecological and social ecosystems.
  • RAIE’s Life-affirming framework becomes even more imperative as we approach potential Artificial Superintelligence (ASI). In a future where ASI could shape ours and our planet’s fate, we must ensure our Life-altering technologies remain unequivocally Life-affirming.
• • Regenerative AI Ethics unlocks an incalculable opportunity–the convergence of human ingenuity, nature’s wisdom, and artificial intelligence’s power. This powerful trinity holds the potential to steward our way through our most pressing global challenges and usher in an era of unprecedented flourishing for all Life on Earth.
• • A Life-affirming AI Ethics framework is also adaptable and evolving, giving both humans and AI the ability to act in right relationship within complex, ever-changing systems.
• • Our choice is stark but clear: extinction or flourishing. Will we continue down a path of extraction and likely extinction, or embrace Regenerative AI Ethics (RAIE) to co-create a future where all Life–human, artificial, and natural–thrives in harmonious interdependence? The time for transformative action is now.

What’s at stake is nothing less than whether the intelligence we build will affirm Life (including our own)—or accelerate its collapse.
